There are two main types of tournaments; Sit & Go and Scheduled.

Sit & Go Poker Tournaments start as soon as all of the seats are occupied. They are restricted to a relatively small number of players, so the action is fast-paced and you don't have to set aside a lot of time to participate.

Scheduled Poker Tournaments start at a particular date and time. These tournaments are announced well in advance and players must register in order to participate. Scheduled tournaments may have thousands of players and often huge prize pools.
